The Most Important by Most Overlooked Moisturizer-Facial Moisturizers

from:

Regardless of what type of skin we have, all need protection at one time or another. Although not too many people have normal skin, even those with normal skin need help from the sun, aging and our every day environment. We can get all sorts of health and beauty aids to slow down the aging process on our bodies, but the part of the body that seems to need the most protection is our faces. This is because while most parts of our body are covered with clothes, our faces are exposed to everything, including the elements of weather. This is why it is so important to use facial moisturizers. Many people use moisturizers of some kind, but facial moisturizers are seldom used as often and others are.

There are so many facial moisturizers on the market today that you'll have a hard time deciding which is best for your skin. The best facial moisturizer you can get is one that not only hydrates your skin but also protects it from further dehydration. The reason this is so important is that dehydration is the largest reason for dry skin. We lose water and natural oils in our daily lives, but a good facial moisturizer will not prevent them from leaving but will help to regenerate new moisture. The main purpose of facial moisturizers is to help the skin function as it should whether it's being subject to cold, wind or any other elements. Facial moisturizers can come in the form of serums, lotions or creams. Basically, facial moisturizers are made up of two kinds: those with oil-in-water emulsions and those with water-in-oil emulsions.

Oil-in-water emulsions are a drop of oil mixed with a watery base such as how salad dressing is made. If you have salad dressing that is in the refrigerator not being used, you'll notice how the oil and water separate until you shake the bottle. With oil-in-water moisturizers, the chemists work hard to make sure this separation doesn't take place with the help of stabilizing agents. Water-in-oil emulsions are the opposite. They are a droplet of water mixed in an oil base. While this type may be greasier, it works best for dry skin, especially on the hands. Oil-in-water is usually preferred for facial moisturizers because most people don't want their faces excessively greasy.

One of the best-reviewed facial moisturizers is Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream. This cream is fragrance-free as well as oil-free and comes with an SPF 15 sunscreen. One of the ingredients, which make it so effective, is retinol, which helps to reduce wrinkles and lines. Another highly rated moisturizer is Dove Sensitive Facial Lotion, which also comes fragrance and oil-free and with a sunscreen. This lotion is great for sensitive skin.
