Dry Skin Care is Important for Everyone

from:

Although many of us believe we have normal skin, only few people actually have "normal" skin. The majority have dry skin, oily skin or a combination type skin. The person that has oily skin may wish they had dry skin while the person with dry skin may wish for oily skin. The truth is that both of these skin conditions can be equally troublesome to the individual having to deal with it. Oily skin is often easier to identify than dry skin, but dry skin care is still required if you are bothered with dry skin.

There are different types of dry skin care you can do yourself to help your skin or to prevent your skin from becoming drier. Many of the methods of dry skin care are slight changes in your daily routine. Diet plays a large part in the type of skin we have. Water is very important in our bodies to avoid becoming dehydrated, which will make your skin dry very quickly. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water each day. Water is also important for other parts of our body, but it definitely helps the skin. Eat a good high-quality diet that is rich in vegetables and fruits. The sun is probably our skin's worst enemy. Avoid overexposure to the sun, as this will lead to dry skin and premature aging of the skin. Although these methods of dry skin care may seem minor, when used on a daily basis, they can make a big difference.

Try to not wash your face more than two times a day. Many people shower before work, after work, and wash their face periodically throughout the day. While it may seem great to always feel clean and fresh, washing your face too often takes out the natural oils in your skin resulting in dry skin. Other good ideas for good dry skin care are to limit your showers to once a day, use warm rather than hot water and use soap only where it's absolutely needed. If you take baths, you can add a teaspoon of lavender-scented oil or olive oil to your bath water. When drying after a bath or shower, pat you body dry rather than vigorously rubbing it dry. These simple tips for dry skin care can make a difference over a long period of time.

Moisturizers often work great as a type of dry skin care. Make sure the type you get is meant for dry skin, as there are many types available on the market today. Humidity in your home is important in maintaining good skin as well. Having the temperature too warm or the air conditioner too cool can give you dry skin, too. Some of the best methods of dry skin care are simple day-to-day things you can easily do yourself.
